My Minimalist Skincare Routine
Skincare can feel overwhelming. With endless products and routines, it’s easy to wonder: Does any of this actually work? That’s where Comando comes in—a simple solution inspired by my own skin struggles.
My Journey to Minimalism
I hadn’t always had problem skin. In high school, a course of acne treatment left my skin dry, but clear for years afterward. For most of my 20s, I was lucky—just the occasional spot here and there. But as I approached 30, things changed.
Suddenly, my skin became unpredictable:
- Deep, blind acne under my jaw.
- Dry patches on my cheeks.
- Wrinkles settling in around my mouth and forehead.
Like many, I turned to the holy grail of skincare trends—vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and retinol. While I loved the glow from vitamin C, my core issues remained. I even tried castor oil masks, hoping to draw out the stubborn spots, but nothing seemed to work.
One night, in sheer frustration, I asked my partner, “What did Egyptians use on their skin?” That question changed everything.
The Discovery of Tallow
Desperate for answers, I began researching traditional skincare remedies and stumbled upon tallow. There weren’t any ready-made products available—just a tub of tallow from a local butchery in Cape Town. It wasn’t glamorous, but I had nothing to lose.
The results were remarkable:
- Night 1: The inflammation under my jaw visibly reduced.
- Week 1: My acne halved.
- Week 2: Only a few spots remained.
- Month 1: My skin was clear, hydrated, and glowing. Even a stubborn eczema patch under my watch strap disappeared.
Tallow’s simplicity and effectiveness were a revelation.
My Minimalist Routine
Today, my routine is straightforward—and it works:
- Cleanse with tallow soap.
- Apply serums.
- Lock it all in with Comando Face Cream.
That’s it. No long routines, no endless steps. Just a few intentional products that give my skin the nutrients it needs.
